Appointment to NACIQI
I am so pleased and honored to be one of the U.S. House of Representatives’ appointments to fill their six seats on the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), which reviews and advises the U.S. Secretary of Education on the recognition of U.S. accrediting agencies. For those unfamiliar with NACIQI or the accreditation recognition process, under the federal law that provides students access to federal loans and grants, each college and university must be accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education. NACIQI plays an important role in the review of each of these accrediting agencies – whether institutional or programmatic/specialized. In addition, NACIQI often considers whether changes should be proposed to related U.S. accreditation and higher education policies and regulations. I am excited to join the Committee and to dive even deeper into higher education and accreditation, using my decades of experience in these areas.
